Outdoor computers provide durability and easy readability in full sunlight. The displays are extremely bright to make operating the devices simple even in harsh weather conditions. The contrast ratio is greatly enhanced in high brightness, with the level of direct sunlight determining the level of the contrast ratio. Teguar’s rugged outdoor computers were designed to increase reliability and readability under the impact of all elements, like snow, water, dust, heat, cold, and sun. These PCs are made with components that allow them to operate in a much wider range of temperatures than traditional units and can go from cold to hot environments without condensation build up. They are completely waterproof and vibration resistant and boast an ingress protection rating of IP65 or higher. Teguar’s outdoor computers are able to run safely no matter how tough the conditions.
The TWR-2920 Series has fully waterproof and rugged housing, designed for tough applications. These computers run on the Intel Celeron N2930 Quad Core CPU and are ultra-low power consumption. Available in screen sizes of 10.4" and 15", these PCs can be used to view sensor data or control machines on manufacturing and production lines that may be exposed to liquid. They are also fit for outdoor use. These computers come with M12 waterproof connectors for their LAN, RS232 and USB 2.0 ports. The TWR-2920 Series has MIL-STD-810F/G compliant enclosures, meaning they can withstand vibrations and shocks.
The TA-A920-15 is the only screen size currently available in this series. This 15" Android Computer runs on a Freescale Cortex A9 CPU. It is fully IP65 rated, with M12 metal connectors for its COM, USB, and Ethernet ports, and it is MIL-STD-810 drop and shock rated. The TA-A920-15 has the option for PoE and an integrated 1D/2D barcode scanner, making it ideal for outdoor kiosk applications.
The TR-2920-08 has an 8.4" resistive touchscreen. This computer is ultra-rugged, housed in aluminum and designed to operate in tough environments. It is IP65 dust and waterproof rated, has a wide operating temperature range, and is shock/vibration resistant, meeting both MIL-STD-810F/G and IEC60068-2-27 standards. This fanless PC runs on the low-power consumption Intel Bay Trail N2930 CPU and can be mounted to a vehicle or forklift. The TR-2920 Series is the ultimate, rugged computing tool for applications in mining, drilling, military and heavy machinery.
This series is now considered “Previous Generation” meaning it may or may not still be available for purchase. Call +1 800 870 7715 for details on the products in this series or check out our full list of currently available Rugged Computers.
The TR-5520-10 is a rugged, waterproof computer with a 10.4” resistive touchscreen. It runs on a 7th Gen. Intel Core i5 processor and is protected by rugged aluminum, anti-corrosion housing. The computer is rated IP65 water and dust proof (excluding the I/O ports) and complies with MIL-STD-810G. It also complies with EN50155 for EMC, ideal for usage on railways. This rugged PC is the ultimate computer for tough industries.
The TR-0810-15 is built for outdoor use in all weather types. This outdoor computer runs on an efficient Intel Bay Trail Atom E3845 Quad Core CPU and up to 8GB of RAM. This PC has a high-brightness projective capacitive touchscreen and is built to operate in a wide temperature range. The housing is IP66 waterproof rated with IP67 rated M12 metal I/O connectors. This unit is ideal for outdoor kiosk or interactive display applications.
Teguar outdoor computers have high-bright LCD screens with optical bonding that reduces glare from bright sunlight. Standard LCDs max out at about 400 nits brightness, which is readable in most indoor conditions, but is too dim to read under sunlight. Our outdoor computers max out at 1000 nits brightness, for bright, readable screens, in all conditions.

One of the main applications for these computers is outdoor kiosks. Teguar has outdoor kiosks installed on a ski slope in Colorado, to an outdoor sports complex in Florida. These computers need to be able to operate in all weather types, so they have wider operating temperature ranges than other computers. The widest range of any Teguar computer is from -25°C to 60°C (-13°F to 140°F).
Keeping Things Cool with Fanless Computers
Do Fanless Computers Overheat?
These outdoor computers are meant to be installed outside and stay there, even when rain or humidity is expected. All of Teguar's outdoor computers are at least IP65 rated, meaning they can withstand water spray from all angles. The higher the IP rating, the more the computer can tolerate. IP69K, the highest IP rating, means the computer can handle high-pressure, high-temperature water jet spray, which is often needed for washdown environments, but not always needed for outdoor installation.
