Teguar Employees Spread Christmas Cheer through Volunteering

Founded in 2010, HOPEMatch is an organization all about serving those who are overlooked within our community. It originally started as a Christmas-oriented program in which donors were matched with families in need to provide them with items on their wish-list of up to $200 in value per person. Now, HOPEMatch has grown into an organization that offers multiple avenues of aid all year round, such as access to financial classes, personal essential items, celebration assistance, and more.

One specific volunteer opportunity within HOPEMatch is their gift-wrapping program. This program assigns volunteer groups to a family in need for which to wrap presents. The volunteer then gets to learn a little more about the assigned family’s situation and write personal gift tags on each of the presents. One thing HOPEMatch workers find important is that volunteers wrap every single item- no gift bags are used. This makes it even more special for the family receiving the donations!

Every holiday season, Teguar employees have felt compelled to give back to the community. For the past several years, multiple employees have volunteered to participate in HOPEMatch’s gift wrapping program. Kathleen Horwitt, HR Assistant and this year’s leader of the HOPEMatch initiative, shares a few words about her experience: “I thought the HOPEmatch gift wrapping event was a huge success. We had 23 employees volunteer and even had one employee attending both events. I was impressed with the folks that run HOPEmatch, as the event was very well organized. I love that so many of our employees are willing to spend their time giving back to the community. Teguar’s commitment to our local community is impressive. Especially, how they encourage employees to get involved by paying 8 hours per year for employees to volunteer.”

Volunteering is an important part of Teguar’s values, and HOPEMatch has been a great partner throughout the years. We hope to continue to volunteer with them for many more holiday seasons!
