Teguar Introduces Fanless Medical Box PCs with UL/EN60601-1 3rd ed. Certification

Charlotte, NC –Teguar introduces Certified Fanless Medical Box PCs designed to be used in conjunction with the production of high quality medical device designs. Human lives are held in the balance with the help of medical PCs. The Teguar Medical Box PCs are built with this in mind.  Failure is not an option. Both the TMB-3010 and TMB-3010-PCI are built with a rugged aluminum enclosure and industrial grade components made to be used 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They meet the most recent UL and EN60601-1 3rd ed. certification standards. This certification protects the patient and equipment from electromagnetic interferences. Also, a 4KV option provides for increased patient safety with multiple electronic devices.

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), face many challenges as new standards and technologies emerge which are unique to the medical industry. Medical OEMs have to consider the entire electronic circuitry and how it interacts with the human electrical system. Increasingly, diagnosis and medical treatment is done using medical electrical equipment, so the need has increased for electrical safety for the patient and operator of these devices. In an environment with multiple currents flowing, each one must be managed carefully.

According to the Medical Device Manufactures Association, “The medical device industry has seen significant regulatory changes in recent years affecting legal and administrative issues, relationships with providers and more” (“Compliance. n.d., re July 22, 2014”) In late 2011 an online report was published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration called “Understanding Barriers to Medical Device Quality” in which they describe “seven major opportunities for improving quality within the industry” the first being design and reliability engineering. The FDA is considers medical device quality a top priority.

“Through the Case for Quality, the FDA is working with stakeholders—industry, healthcare providers, patients, payers, and investors – to foster medical device quality. Enhancing the quality of medical devices is in the best interests of all, especially industry and patients. This is achieved by identifying and promoting practices that result in high-quality devices [emphasis added] and adapting FDA regulatory approaches to align with those practices.”

“Case for Quality. July 16, 2014” FDA

As the medical technology industry continues its surging growth, choosing high quality products in line with standards and building for future device connectivity is essential. Teguar Fanless Medical Box Pcs are designed with these principles in mind. They are made to be used by Medical OEMs for large amounts of HD imaging and data processing, to run demanding medical software, or to be used in conjunction with a screen on a nurse cart. With up to a Core i7 Intel processor and options such as multiple USB ports, six COM ports, mini PCIe and PCI slots, Teguar medical fanless box PCs are made for maximum configurability.
