Edge AI is exactly as the phrase indicates, combining edge computing<\/strong> with artificial intelligence<\/strong>. Computing on the edge means processing and communication is fully carried out on the \u201cedge\u201d of a local network, with no need to connect to the cloud or an external server. Combining this with AI gives you all the tools to predict, asses, and control automatically on one \u201chomebase\u201d network. With edge AI, even complex computation is made possible fully on-site.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why the edge?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are several reasons Teguar’s customers choose to keep inference and analytics on premises at the edge instead of in the cloud: cost, security, and latency. \u00a0Some customers are looking to lower their cloud compute cost; at times there are legal or regulatory concerns (such as in the medical space<\/a>, where patient data often needs to stay on site); and often our customers want to reduce latency in real-time decision-making, which we’ll expand on below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
