When it comes to naming a company, many different factors come into play. Are there any other companies with the same name? What do they do? Is it easy to pronounce? With billions of companies out there in the world, finding the perfect name can be tricky. There are many things to consider when finding that one-of-a-kind name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People must be thinking- how did we create our name, and what even is a Teguar?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going Back to English Class<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s breakdown the actual word Tegua<\/em>r, (teh-gwaar). In the Latin language, the root \u201cteg-\u201d means to cover. \u201cTeges\u201d means a covering, \u201ctego\u201d means to cover, \u201ctegulicius\u201d means covered with tiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, was the name Teguar meant to mean covering? Most of our products have a covering\u2014our waterproof computers<\/a> are built with a stainless steel covering to keep out dust and water. Our rugged tablets<\/a> have a hard rubberized exterior to protect against drops and shocks. Our Medical PCs<\/a> have an antimicrobial covering to keep away dust and germs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, the suffix -uar has no Latin meaning and is no help in finding the true meaning of Teguar. It appears we only have one half of the puzzle with now knowing the meaning of \u201cteg\u201d. But is that what sparked our name Teguar?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Tegs on the Market<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As most great scholars would do, let\u2019s look to Google to find out what really is a Teguar. When you search \u201cWhat is A Teguar\u201d, a plethora of different results pop up on the screen. Obviously, our website is one of the first to pop up. You may find some other things as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tag Heuer<\/a>, which is a luxury Swiss watch company. TEG<\/a>, a blood test that tests the efficiency of blood coagulation. A popular author M. Teguar <\/a>who writes articles about electrical trends. There even is a Star Wars character that exists named Teguar.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

None of these go along with the aforementioned Latin meaning of \u201ccovering\u201d. There is not a strong correlation between any of these different versions of Teguar. It is interesting to see how other people have used the name, or something similar, for their own business or product name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Does Teguar Mean to Us?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After learning about all the different Teguars, you are probably wondering what our Teguar actually means to us. Unfortunately, it is not as exciting as a Star Wars character, or a fancy Swiss watch company, or an important medical test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in 2010, our founder and CEO, Jonathan Staub, was starting the company and was trying to find a sleek name that didn\u2019t already exist. One day, Jonathan was driving when he noticed a Volkswagen Tiguan and liked the name. With a little thought, Tiguan shortly became Teguar. Simple as that! No deep Latin meaning, no Star Wars superfan, just a car driving by that sparked creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to liking the name, Jonathan also knew he needed an available domain. Lucky for him, the simple teguar.com was available and ready for use. Finally, Teguar as we know it<\/a> today was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Different Teguars have popped up here and there (as our Google research showed), yet Teguar will continue to be a name that is recognizable in the industrial and medical computer industry. We strive every day to keep the \u201cTeguar\u201d name in a positive light.
